Grade Structure and Admission Placement

Our English-medium primary programme covers Grades 1–5. Typical entry ages are Grade 1: 5+, Grade 2: 6+, Grade 3: 7+, Grade 4: 8+ and Grade 5: 9+. These are indicative ages, not automatic placement guarantees.

Admission and grade placement take account of each child’s age, prior learning, readiness and admission assessment.

Grade 1 — Building Strong Foundations

Children strengthen phonics, early reading, handwriting, basic number skills, observation and confident classroom communication. Lessons use guided practice, stories, discussion and creative activities.

Grade 2 — Developing Fluency and Independence

Pupils build reading comprehension, sentence writing, addition and subtraction strategies, practical enquiry and teamwork. Teachers help children explain their ideas and become increasingly independent learners.

Grade 3 — Applying Knowledge

Children progress towards extended reading and writing, multiplication and division, problem-solving, scientific observation and structured presentations. Classroom projects encourage curiosity and thoughtful participation.

Grade 4 — Deepening Understanding

Learning focuses on clear written explanations, mathematical reasoning, investigation, responsible digital awareness and collaborative projects. Pupils practise evaluating information and communicating respectfully.

Grade 5 — Preparing for the Next Stage

Pupils consolidate literacy, numeracy, scientific thinking, research, presentation and study skills. Teachers support a confident transition to the next stage of schooling through classroom-based practice and regular feedback.

Learning Across All Five Grades

The programme follows a Cambridge-based approach to age-appropriate English, mathematics, science and wider learning. Bengali language, creativity, communication, wellbeing, values and physical activity support balanced development.

Teaching is class-teacher-centred: teachers explain, model, guide, assess and support learning during the school day. Activities are adapted to pupils’ needs and progress.

Assessment and Family Communication

Teachers monitor progress through classroom observation, practical tasks, oral responses and scheduled assessments. Feedback helps identify strengths and areas requiring additional support.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to maintain regular communication with the school about their child’s learning, wellbeing and progress.

NO HOMEWORK • NO PRIVATE TUITION • CLASS TEACHER-CENTRIC SCHOOL. Learning, guided practice and necessary support are designed to take place at school, under teachers’ supervision.

Our aim is for children to have meaningful learning experiences in school and appropriate time for rest, family and play outside school.
